Culver City History

Culver City was named after a male from Milford Nebraska, called Harry H. Culver who started the preparation for developing the town. One of the first film studios were established in 1918 and followed by film studios constructed by Hal Roach and City Goldwyn Mayer (MGM). Throughout the years of the Restriction "speakeasies" and clubs consisting of the famous Cotton Club filled Washington Boulevard. Throughout the years, numerous movies have been made at the Culver City's studios composed of The Wizard of Oz, Opted for the Wind, Resident Kane, E.T. The Bonus Terrestrial and numerous other popular motion pictures.
Many tv programs were produced in Culver City consisting of Lassie, Batman, and the Andy Griffith Program. In 1976 a big part of the studio residential or commercial property was offered and was redeveloped. The home transformed the Hayden Industrial System, neighborhoods and a shopping mall. Throughout the 1990s the downtown was thoroughly refurbished. Sony's Columbia Pictures moved to Culver City, which developed plenty of tasks.
